Discussing dysphoria with your trans youth client: a toolkit for opening the dialogue

This workshop is designed for providers: physicians, nurses, clinical staff, therapists, support group leaders, counselors and all providers that work with trans youth who have body dysphoria. Our Trans Youth Equality Foundation staff, and medical board advisors offer workshops in understanding dysphoria and how to alleviate it with healthy and safe alternatives for affirmed male and affirmed female trans youth. We encourage open dialogue, and straight shooting facts and safety tips. We know from years of experience that youth need and appreciate these suggestions. This workshop offers you a tool kit to do the same in your practice. Moreover, by offering these tips and opening the dialogue with your clients you will encourage them to open up, trust you and view you as a knowledgable ally. We suggest this tool kit as a model for a "welcoming kit" to present all your new trans youth clients so they can walk away knowing more about resources, books, support groups, everything from binders to packers to taping and gaffs. You have their attention, you might be the first person they see and this is a clearly laid out tool kit to pave the way for this teachable moment. Let us open the communication. All in a tool kit that lays it out for you and can be presented to your clients in 5 minutes. Or longer!
